For those of you who liked the movie "The Secretary", you might want to catch up with actress Maggie Gyllenhaal during her latest interview with Terry Gross on NPR. She talks mostly about her latest movie "Sherry Baby", which is the story of a drug-addicted ex-convict who uses sex to get what she needs. But, she also explains the big difference between the sex scenes she did for her this movie, and the ones she did for "Secretary"
Here is a partial transcipt:
MG: I came home from work...and I remember telling (my fiancee) "I don't think I want to do sex scenes anymore. They really don't make me feel good." And he said, "I think it might have to do more with the kind of sex scenes you've been doing". You know, I think that's true.
TG: Yeah, well, the characters you've played, I mean there was "Secretary", which was a very unusual relationship...though in its own way a very nurturing sadomasochistic relationship.
MG: Yeah, exactly! Those sex scenes felt lovely!
TG: ...because they were so well suited to each other...
MG: Yeah! And they loved each other. It was the way that they felt and expressed love..and so it felt good!
One of the few actors in Hollywood who get S and M...and you can catch up with the interview here:
